 PLAYGROUND SAFETY SURFACING

Surfacing your playground or play system at the correct depth and fall zone is important to the safety of children. Riggs Recreation has several options to surface your playground.

Engineered Wood Fiber gives you a cushion that is better than sand or pea gravel and is usually used at a 10" to 12" depth. Give one of our representatives a call and we would be more than happy to get you a quote.

Another option would be a loose fill rubber surface. Please click here to see our loose fill rubber.

Solid rubber surfaces offer more of a "bounce" to your playground. You can choose from the shredded bonded rubber or a poured in place system. These systems are generally installed over a concrete or asphalt pad to prevent the rubber from cracking. You will be able to meet your fall height requirements with just 2" to 3" of surfacing as opposed to 10" or 12" for the wood chips.
